When it comes to shoes, most of us have rarely spent more than a few hundred dollars on a pair. However, that is not always the case, and there seems to be monumental figures when it comes to the “best” and most expensive in any category.
For some of the most expensive shoes in the world, this is certainly the case. Seven-digit figures have been seen. Here are just a few of the most expensive shoes that the world has seen.
- Rita Hayworth Inspired Heels: Designed by Stuart Weitzman, these open-toe stilettos were based upon earrings worn by Rita Hayworth, a movie legend in the 1940s and beyond. With a price tag of $3 million, these shoes are outfitted with diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. Now belonging to Hayworth’s daughter, they were worn by Kathleen “Bird” York for the 2006 Academy Awards.
- Cinderella Slippers: Also from Stuart Weitzman, these $2 million slippers are stiletto heels that include 595 carats of diamonds; one shoe even has a 5-carat amaretto stone worth $1 million alone. Performing onstage and across the red carpet, they were worn by Alison Krauss at the 2004 Oscars.
- Tanzanite: It is no surprise that these shoes were also designed by Stuart Weitzman, and they also carry a price tag of $2 million. Jeweler Le Vian helped with the 185 carats of tanzanite – with a “mere” 28 carats of diamonds present. Not worn by anyone, they were revealed in June of 2008 in Las Vegas.
As there are plenty of shoes that bring monumental price tags and that are adorned with precious stones, these are just some of the shoes that are well out of the range of most people. With plenty of choices costing thousands of dollars, certainly shoes can become a luxury item for those that can afford them.
