Starting a new business is expensive. It’s always recommended that a small business try and save money by saving energy. Saving energy is the best and easiest way small businesses can save money before the company is officially open for business.

Turn Everything Off

At the end of the day make sure all the computers, printers, fax machines, copiers and anything else is turned off. This means the lights as well. You’d be surprised at how much money you can save there by conserving energy. Some of these equipments will have a power-saver option that will turn off automatically, which is great for those who forget to turn things off at the end of the night.

Change the Lighting

Instead of using regular light bulbs it’s recommended to switch to fluorescent light bulbs. Many stores carry the energy-efficient light bulbs that are a better option. Keep the lights off until they’re needed. By using natural light there won’t be any need for the regular lighting. If possible look for a place with lots of windows to bring in more natural lighting.

Fix Things When Needed

If something needs to be fixed then fix it as soon as possible. Leaky faucets will waste water, which could bring up your water bill. If the heater or air conditioner is leaking as well, make sure it’s fixed right away. This will waste heat and cool air, which could end up costing you more.

Reuse & Recycle

When photocopying, use both sides of the paper by photocopying on the front and back. Most likely the paper is for your own records so using too many papers isn’t necessary.
